*14K Solid Gold* Fountain Pen c.1920
*14K Solid Gold* Fountain Pen c.1920

William S. Hicks 14K Solid Gold Fountain Pen, dating from circa 1915-20 and one of the earliest lever fillers. Hicks was one of the earliest top class penmakers and legendary for the quality of his work as evidenced by the fact that he made pens for Cartier and Tiffany. This pen is a classic Hicks with his trademark clip. Elegant simplicity with a flourish! Lever filler with 14K Warranted Fine nib, imprinted WARRANTED 14K U.S.A. In full working order, recently serviced and with a new ink sac. The pen has a blank Cartouche and no engravings. A very rare find, the pen is in excellent condition. It does have a number of shallow dents, inevitable for a solid gold pen of this vintage, which I have tried to show as best I can in the photographs. Whilst they are undeniably there, they do not mar the overall impression of the pen, which has real class and character.
